What is Broadband and how does it differ from standard dial-up?
Broadband is an always-on Internet connection that gives you high-speed access and downloads for a flat rate monthly charge. Everything works faster, from downloading emails and files (such as pictures & mp3's) or streaming movies and radio.

Do I have to pay for Internet call charges while using Love2Talk & Surf Broadband?
No, Love2Talk & Surf is an always on service and you do not pay any dial-up or call charges to access the service.

How fast is Love2Talk & Surf Broadband?
Love2Talk & Surf (Lite) offers download speeds of up to 1Mb and upload speeds of up to 128Kb.
Love2Talk & Surf download speeds of up to 3Mb and upload speeds of up to 384Kb.
Love2Talk & Surf (Max) offers download speeds of up to 7.6 Mb and upload speeds of up to 672Kb.

Can I keep my existing phone number with Love2Talk & Surf Broadband?
Yes, you can keep your existing phone number.

How long does it take to sign-up?
Usually it's around 10 working days once the sign-up fee (if any) has been paid. In some cases it may take longer, however we will endeavour to keep any delay to a minimum.

What's the minimum contract period for Love2Talk & Surf?
The minimum contract period for Love2Talk & Surf is 12 months.

How will I be billed for Love2Talk & Surf?
Swiftcall will issue a monthly bill detailing your package charges and any applicable usage charges such as phone calls that are not included in your bundle or Broadband Usage in excess of your monthly Usage Allowance. Your package charges are billed monthly in advance while usage is billed monthly in arrears.

If my phone line is with a different phone company can I get Swiftcall broadband?
In order to get Broadband from Swiftcall you must transfer your phone line and calls to Swiftcall. We do not offer a broadband only option.

Can I still use my phone line while I'm connected to the Internet?
Yes, you can make and receive telephone calls & fax's whilst on-line with Love2Talk & Surf Broadband. You will receive a bill for any phone/fax calls that are outside your Love2Talk package as normal.

What do I need to be able to register for Love2Talk & Surf Broadband?
You must have an active phone line*.
You must be over 18 years of age and have one of the following major credit or debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, or Laser. Payment can also be made via Direct Debit.
Your computer must use one of the following operating systems: Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X or any Unix flavour.

Can Swiftcall provide a Modem?
Yes. We can provide either a Wired or a Wireless Modem at the costs as set out on the other charges page. You can also use your own Modem if you already have one.

I'm providing my own ADSL router/modem, what are the settings I need to use?
We will provide you with your Love2Talk & Surf username (eg. cs12345@adsl.utvinternet.ie) and password in your welcome letter/e-mail. Use the below settings as required:
Driver: PPPoE
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Set up type: LLC

DNS Servers (server assigned):
Primary: 194.46.192.141
Secondary: 194.46.192.142

What is my Usage Limit & how do Usage Limits work?

What if I exceed my Monthly Usage Limit?
If you exceed your Usage Limit you will be billed at a rate of 2c per Mb in excess of your Usage Limit.

Can I get Unlimited Broadband Usage?
Yes, for an additional €4 per month you can have Unlimited Usage with no download restrictions subject to our Acceptable Usage Policy

Can I keep the same email address?
In most cases you should be able to continue to use your current email address. By installing Love2Talk & Surf Broadband, you generally do not need to adjust your email account settings, you just change the way you connect to the Internet. Some email account settings may need to be changed so email is sent via our SMTP server (smtp.utvinternet.com)

I have an ISDN line, can I get Love2Talk & Surf?
Yes, we can now convert ISDN2/2e, Hi-Speed, Business Highway and Home Highway lines to normal phone lines for Love2Talk & Surf. Converting your existing service to one standard line with broadband will mean you will keep only one telephone number. The other telephone numbers associated with your current ISDN service will be ceased.

What if I exceed my Monthly Usage Limit?
If you exceed your Usage Limit you will be billed at a rate of 2c per Mb in excess of your Usage Limit.
Please make sure that the number you give us is the single telephone number you wish to retain.
Installation: organising the conversion from your existing service to broadband may increase the installation time. Naturally, during installation at your premises there will be an interruption to your phone service whilst conversion takes place (we anticipate a maximum of four hours)
Love2Talk & Surf Broadband cannot be provided over the following services: Subscriber private metering, 30k Loop, Auxiliary lines, PBX lines, Private Circuits, Red ABC, RedCare, Featurenet 5000 services, other Broadband xDSL Services (including BT Videostream)

Why do I need to log in again every time I turn my PC on? Is ADSL not always on?
Love2Talk & Surf Broadband is an "always on" connection, which means you can stay connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week as long as your computer is turned on.
You may need to log in again after your computer has been turned off if your broadband modem is powered by the USB port on your Windows PC or Mac.

What does ADSL stand for?
It stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line.
It is called "asymmetric" because it moves data faster from the telephone exchange to the customer than from the customer to the exchange. This makes it particularly suitable for applications where the customer expects to receive more data than they transmit. An excellent example of this is Internet "surfing", where more information is received than is sent.
